Moses Wetangula Or Else... -Western MPs

A section of western Kenya parliamentarians want Moses Wetangula to be unconditionally given the CORD presidential ticket in 2017 or else they will decamp to Uhuru’s Jubilee party.
They want Raila Odinga to shelve his presidential ambition in favour of the Bungoma senator if the opposition wants to be guaranteed support from western Kenya.

Speaking a St. Mary’s Ng’oli secondary school, the MPs claimed that western Kenya should not be forced to support the opposition if Moses Wetangula will not be the flag bearer next year.
“We want (Moses) Wetangula on the ballot box…but if he is not serious then he should not force the region to support the opposition,” Said Reginald Wanyonyi, Bungoma county Women Representative as quoted by Standard.

This comes barely a week after the Wetangula survived a scare on his political career following a tricky voter bribery case that has dogged him since the 2013 General Election.
Moses Wetangula, Kalonzo Musyoka and Raila Odinga are both principals of the CORD coalition by virtue of their positions as leaders of the three parties under the coalition.

While they have not picked a presidential candidate yet, Raila Odinga remains the defacto flag bearer of the opposition and 2017 might be his last realistic chance to vie for the presidency considering his advancing age.
“Being in opposition is not health, we will only get goodies if we are in government,” said Bumula MP Boniface Otsiula.
Western Kenya is usually considered a crucial swing vote region and both the opposition and Jubilee Alliance Party have been busy making inroads in the region with an eye on next year’s General Election.
