Former Minister Ole Lenku To Vie For Governorship In 2017

Former Minister Ole Lenku To Vie For Governorship In 2017, See WhereFormer cabinet secretary Joseph ole Lenku has announced that he would be seeking an elective post in the coming polls.
Ole Lenku, on Saturday, January 23, declared that he would go for the Kajiado county governorship as the region was suffering from poor leadership.
“I will run for the county’s top seat because our people need a more development-conscious leadership. We are suffering from poor leadership,” said ole Lenku as quoted by Daily Nation.
Lenku declared his ambition in the presence of the current Kajiado Governor David Nkedianye during a Maasai community meeting in Kajiado West that was attended by leaders across the political divide.
The former interior minister, who was the first to leave President Uhuru Kenyatta’s cabinet, gave an example of the security surveillance system ran by Safaricom as part of his successes in the ministry.
Lenku’s tenure as minister in charged of internal security had a lot of challenges and on December 2, 2014, Uhuru announced that he would be replaced with Joseph Nkaissery who was then Kajiado Central MP.
Most of Lenku’s critics argued that he was not up to the task given that he had experience in the hospitality industry and not security sector. When Ole Lenku was fired, David Kimaiyo also resigned as inspector general of police and the position was taken by Joseph Boinnet.
Another former cabinet secretary, Kazungu Kambi, has also shown interest in the Kilifi gubernatorial seat currently being occupied by ODM stalwart Amason Kingi.
