Kenya Ferry Services Bosses Fired After Uhuru Tour

President Uhuru Kenyatta was clearly not happy with the state of Kenya Ferry Services after his tour of the offices on Monday, January 4, 2016.
After the visit, the president promised to put measures that would improve the efficiency of the Kenya Ferry Services at Likoni and two days later, three top officials were sent packing.
Kenya Ferry Services board on Wednesday, January 6 announced that Managing Director Hassan Musa, chief engineer George Nyadero and operations manager Anthony Mwanzungu have been sacked due to incompetence.
“The board has decided to send Musa on terminal leave with immediate effect. We have also decided to send head of engineering Amos Nyadero and head of operations Anthony Madrungu on early retirement with immediate effect,” reads a statement signed by board chairman Mshenga Ruga.

The current chief finance manager, Bakari Gowa, was appointed to take over as managing director in acting capacity until Musa’s suitable replacement is found.
Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala, who accompanied the president in tour of the Kenya Ferry Services headquarters, said Uhuru was not impressed with what he saw.
Balala said the ferry workshops were pathetic, worse than even a tuk tuk workshop, a situation he attributed to poor management.
