URP Apparently Unhappy With Uhuru Cabinet Reshuffle

According to a report published by Sunday Nation, a section of URP officials believe that Ruto’s side was short-changed in the changes made by the two leaders.
They argue that Uhuru quietly increased his stake in government at the expense of URP with the appointment of Sicily Kariuki as Cabinet Secretary for Public Service Youth and Gender Affairs to add to the earlier entry of Eugene Wamalwa to the Water docket.
“Those close to Ruto fear that there is a scheme to recreate Treasury at the Office of the President (OP). This, they fear, will take away the main function from Mr Henry Rotich and transfer it to OP where a former National Treasury Permanent Secretary and now Chief of Staff Joseph Kinyua runs the show,” the report reads in part.
However, Uhuru tried to assuage the demands of the URP camp by appointing Willy Bett as Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture. Bett hails from Nandi county where sacked CS Felix Koskei also comes from.

The changes in Uhuru’s cabinet saw initially suspended Cabinet Secretaries officially sacked as new faces took their places.
The sacked CSs included Charity Ngilu, Felix Koskei, Davis Chirchir, Michael Kamau and Kazungu Kambi. Former Devolution CS Anne Waiguru resigned after pressure piled on her following corruption allegations in the ministry.
The new faces appointed by Uhuru and expected to be approved by Parliament include Sicily Kariuki, Mwangi Kiunjuri, Joe Mucheru, Willy Bett, Dan Kazungu, Cleopa Mailu and Charles Keter.
Uhuru made the changes after calls instensified to have his cabinet reshuffled on grounds of corruption. He was also having a shortage of cabinet secretaries following the resignation of Anne Waiguru.
