Fresh Scandal:Waiguru's Office Also Bought 18 Condom Dispensers At 450K

The Devolution and Planning Ministry is arguably turning out to be Kenya’s most corrupt docket, at least going by the many scandals it is embroiled in.
Scandal upon scandal has been unearthed in Anne Waiguru’s docket and the public pressure to have her suspended for presidng over corruption has been pilling.

Fresh details have yet again emerged of outrageous expenditures in Anne Waiguru’s office involving KSh 8 billion  that may see her hit headlines yet again for wanton corruption in her docket.

According to the ministry’s asset register delivered to the Parliamentary Accounts Committee, Waiguru’s office bought a television set at KSh 1.7 million in the 2013/2014 financial year.
The ministry which is at the center of a KSh 791 million scandal also spent KSh 1.9 million to buy a software- Adobe – which is available for download free of charge.
As if that is not all, Waiguru’s ministry spent KSh 250,000 to purchase ten flash disks, meaning each cost the ministry KSh 25,000.

Other outrageous expenditure include;

1. KSh 1.5 million for business cards.

2. Ksh 4 million for 100 computer  keyboard.
3. KSh 0.93 million for payment of Kaspersky antivirus security kit.
4. KSh 45,000 for one DVD player.

5. KSh 360,000 for two IPAD tablets.
6. KSh 174,000 for 20 ball point pens, each cost KSh 8,700.

7. KSh 206,000 for one laptop
8. KSh 450,000 for  18  custom-made male and female condom dispensers.
The register of assets was giving details of KSh 8 billion expenditure by the ministry but the Parliamentary Accounts Committee questioned the genuineness of such expenses.
The revelations come in the wake of tough debate over the use of proceeds from the eurobond.
Waiguru’s ministry failed to account for KSh 45 billion it received from the eurobond and there is a high likelihood the money ended up in individual’s pockets.
