Fight Against Al-Shabaab Intensify

The fight against al Shabaab intensified on Friday, November 7, 2015 when the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and the Somali National Army (SNA) killed nine terrorists.
KDF ambushed al Shabaab members at Jungal, 30 kms North West of Bardhere in Somalia. The area is believed to be one of their hideouts.
Through a press statement drafted by the Ministry of Defence, the soldiers raided the area to gundown 9 al Shabaab. They also recovered AK 47 rifle, five IEDs, assorted ammunition a double cabin Hilux, a tractor and a boat, which they used to cross River Juba into Gedo.
“The terrorists were attacked when their vehicle, a Toyota Surf got struck after a hot pursuit by the Amisom and SNA soldiers,” the official statement revealed.
The militants have been terrorising East African residents, they struck   in Mogadishu on Sunday, November 1, 2015. The armed group used a vehicle packed with explosives to hit the Sahafi hotel.
The hotel is well known for hosting members of parliament, government employees and businessmen.
One week earlier, the Kenya Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) killed 15 suspected al Shabaab members in Somalia when they were attempting to cross the Jubba River.
In October 16, 2011, the government of Kenya deployed KDF soldiers in Somalia . The soldiers moved into Southern Somalia to hunt for al Shabaab after a series of kidnapping tourists along the border.

The soldiers from Kenya were integrated into African Union Mission in Somalia one month later. On February 22, 2012 after the United Nations Security Council passed Resolution 2036.
The Kenyan government has vowed not to withdraw KDF from Somali till the al Shabaab militants are whipped out.
