Votes will be rigged in Kericho, Rutto says.

Why Ruto claims that Jubilee is trying to rig Kericho by-election

– Rutto, the governor of Bomet county, has claimed that the Jubilee government may be planning on vote rigging during the upcoming Kericho by-election, scheduled for Monday, March 7
– The governor  further warned the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to be on the look out for possible tampering with the by-election
– Ruto is backing Paul Sang, the candidate for Senate representing KANU, in the upcoming by-election
Governor Ruto has leveled accusations against the Jubilee administration that the Kericho senatorial by-elections will be rigged in Jubilee’s favor. The governor has further called upon the IEBC to watch for possible instances of vote rigging.
Gideon Moi, the chairman for KANU, attended the event along with the Bomet governor on Sunday, February 28, at Lesirwo in Kericho county.

“We want a peaceful, free and fair election. We are getting reports that they (Jubilee) are organizing to have presiding officers and polling clerks friendly to their party to rig the election. That is why Jubilee leaders are going round saying they will net 90 per cent of the vote,” said Ruto during the event.
Gideon Moi, the chairman for KANU, attended the event along with the Bomet governor on Sunday, February 28, at Lesirwo in Kericho county. Moi criticized Deputy President William Ruto for ‘misleading’ residents of Kericho county ahead of the crucial by-election.

He further claimed that the DP had been painting KANU in ‘a bad light’.
Moi said during the event: “Why do we have to lie about these issues? For those in doubt, Kanu is in the government. We have an agreement with the present government in the Jubilee Coalition. All we are saying is that we want those leaders who made promises to the people to keep their promises,”
KANU’s Sang is expected to contend with Aaron Cheriuyot, the candidate from the Jubilee Alliance Party up for the Senate seat.
The Bomet governor has long been an outspoken critic of the Jubilee administration, even going as far as to state that he intends to run for President during the 2022 general election.
Governor Ruto made headlines over the weekend by claiming that President Uhuru Kenyatta would be a ‘one term’ president.
He stated that the reason for him claiming that Uhuru would only hold State House for one term is the President ‘not fully embracing’ the devolution process in Kenya.
