ODM wants a share of missing KSh 2.5 billion, Vihiga county

– County leaders from Vihiga have warned ODM to keep off their government affairs becasue they have no executive powers to investigate them
-ODM has also been accused of having ulterior motives in wanting to investigate the misappropriation of KSh 2.5 billion in the county
A planned move by ODM to form a taskforce to look into the misuse of KSh2.5 billion by Vihiga county is said to be a ploy to get a share of the missing loot.
According to Sabatia MP Alfred Agoi, the county already knew it was corrupt and that there was money missing and so there was no point for ODM to involve themselves in their matters.
“The Auditor-General already revealed this to us. Our money is being stolen and so ODM has no powers to come here and investigate,” said Agoi.
Agoi further told ODM to keep away because obviously there are records of how the KSh 2.5 billion debt was accumulated.
“ODM should first of all tell us how much money was recovered after they investigated Kisumu as well as state what their interest is in Vihiga matters,” added Agoi.
According to the Star, he also said that Vihiga has already petitioned the Senate on the matter, because after the Auditor-General, there is no need for a fresh probe into the matter.

Earlier this week, ODM Secretary General Ababu Namwamba announced that ODM was planning to investigate how it is that such an amount of money could be lost in an area perceived to be one of ODM’s stronghold.
The task force is being led by former Kanduyi MP Alfred Khang’ati.
