–Deputy President William Ruto has accused Raila Odinga, the party leader for the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) of land grabbing
– The DP made his comments while attending a rally in Malindi county ahead of the Monday, March 7 by-election in the county. He further called on voters to reject ODM during the by-election
– ODM and Jubilee have been heavily campaigning within Malindi in the days and weeks leading up to the by-election
The Deputy President called out Raila during a rally to garner voter support for Philip Charo, the Jubilee candidate for MP, at Karima grounds in Malindi county on Wednesday, March 2, claiming that the CORD leader was involved in land grabbing.
So where did the alleged ‘land grabbing’ take place?
Aden Duale, the National Assembly Majority Leader was also in attendance at the event and laid accusations that there is a plan from CORD to rig the by-election in Malindi county next week.
Both CORD and Jubilee have been routinely campaigning in the county in the days running up to the by-election. Opinion polls indicates that CORD coalition candidate in Malindi parliamentary by-election Willy Mtengo would win the race by 61%. Coming second would be Jubilee’s Philip Charo with 29%.
Raila took to the campaign stage in Malindi on Monday, February 29 to campaign for Willy Mtengo, the ODM candidate for MP in Malindi.
