Anne Waiguru's calls for more security dismissed

– Opposition MPs have dismissed request by former devolution cabinet secretary Anne Waiguru to be given more security. The say she should be treated as a suspect in the NYS scandals and not a whistle blower
– Waiguru wrote to Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet claiming that her life was in danger following her affidavit that implicated top politicians in the NYS scandal. Some of those named in the affidavit are: National Assembly Aden Duale and Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen
Opposition legislators have laughed off a former minister’s request for extra protection from the police.
ODM Treasurer Timothy Bosire and other members of the party, on Tuesday, March 1, said that former devolution minister Anne Waiguru was only fooling Kenyans.
“Pretending to seek security so that she can sleep well is a fooling process. Waiguru remains a suspect and must be handled as such,” said Bosire as quoted by The Star.

Bosire was addressing a press conference at the parliament buildings. He was accompanied by: Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi, Kabondo Kasipul MP Silvance Osele, Nyando MP Fred Outa, Shinyalu MP Silverce Anami, Rangwe MP George Oner, Kabondo MP Oyugi Magwanga and Nyamira Women Representative Alice Chai.
Anne Waiguru had, on February 29, written to Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet requesting to have more protection. She claimed that her life was in great danger following the filing of an affidavit that implicated powerful individuals, especially politicians, in the National Youth Service scandals.
“I feel that unless I’m  issued with appropriate security, I risk being harmed,” Anne Waiguru wrote.

In the affidavit, Anne Waiguru claimed that Deputy President William Ruto’s aide was closely involved with a key suspect in KSh 791 million NYS scandal when the matter was being investigated by the police.
“During the time of DCI investigations there were constant communications between Ben Gethi (a suspect in the scandal) and Farouk Kibet with about 180 phone calls some lasting for hours between the two,” reads Anne Waiguru’s affidavit.
Other key politicians mentioned in Anne Waiguru’s affidavit are leader of Majority in the National Assembly Aden Duale and Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen. Duale apparently tried to intimidate former NYS deputy director general Adan Harakhe when he reported suspicious transactions at NYS to the police.

Murkomen personally visited her in July 2015, and informed her that he represented clients whose payments (about KSh 829 million) had been stopped following the police investigations.
“Senator Murkomen passed the message from his clients stating that I should tell DCI to drop the investigations and said I would face unspecified consequences if I did not adhere to these demands,” reads paragraph 58 of Anne Waiguru affidavit.
