Mugabe Refuses To Wear Indian Traditional Attire

Zimbabwe’s Robert Mugabe has once again hit headlines for his stubbornness after he refused to be like other African Presidents who wore India’s traditional Kurta Sherwani attire with a waist coat.

The African Presidents are in India for the India-Africa Summit and as part of the welcome they received, they were dressed with the traditional Indian attire.
However, Mugabe, a strong proponent of African culture and values, seemed to disagree with the reception the African leaders were given and instead chose to remain in his trademark grey suit.
In the photo below, Mugabe can be seen conspicuously looking different from the rest who are looking colourful in the attire.
Among those who donned the Indian attire is President Uhuru Kenyatta upon his arrival in New Delhi where he is attending the summit.
Mugabe has been in the news before for controversial actions and utterances.
He is a well-known critic of the west and its ideologies and perhaps it is this strong stand that has seen inflation in his country go beyond limits, with majority of Zimbabweans living below the poverty line.
In September, 2015, Mugabe made headlines when he addressed the Zimbabwean parliament with a wrong speech. It was discovered that he was reading a speech he had delivered before in another function.
The India-Africa Summit seeks to strengthen ties between India and Africa and this is the third summit since its inception.
President Uhuru Kenyatta is among 53 other African leaders attending the summit.
